Worship

The Worship Service. Episcopal worship is both ceremonial and down-to-earth, orderly and joyous, heartfelt and mindful. As Episcopalians, we gather around the Book of Common Prayer for worship that includes:

  • Scripture readings.
  • Preaching that emphasizes a Biblical message of God's unconditional love for humanity and all created beings.
  • Prayers for the world and our own thanksgivings and needs.
  • The sacrament of Holy Eucharist in which all baptized persons are invited to participate.
  • Music from a rich choral tradition.

Children are welcomed as full members of the congregation. Older children (6th grade and up) are invited to serve at the altar as acolytes.

Nursery Care is provided for infants and toddlers.

Other Ways We Worship

The Labyrinth. On our grounds we have an eleven-circuit labyrinth modeled on the one in Chartres Cathedral. Meditating or praying on the meandering path to and from the center is a way of understanding your walk with God.

The Memorial Garden. Situated in a peaceful corner of the church grounds, this garden is consecrated for the sacred disposition of ashes of loved ones who have died and passed into the greater life of God. There is a garden bench for meditation and prayer.

Education

Church school for children ages four through ten is held during the first part of the 10 AM service on the FOURTH Sunday of the month. Children join the congregation for Communion. At the present time, we have a guest preacher at the service so that our Rector can be more involved with the church school. We also offer an "all ages Eucharist" on the THIRD Sunday of the month -- a service intended to be accessible to our younger members while still offering something to adults as well.

Educational forums for adults are held on many Sundays from 9 am to 9:45 am. From time to time adult discussion groups also meet on weekday evenings.

Fellowship

The Choir. Practices are on Fridays and often on Sundays. Contact Alice Maleski, our organist, for more information.

Companionship. We enjoy one another's company in many ways.

  • Coffee hour takes place after the 10:00 service.
  • Two women's groups meet regularly for prayer and discussing the Spirit's work in their lives.
  • Potluck church dinners, picnics and other gatherings are held regularly

Outreach. Service for and in the community is an important part of our common life. Many in the congregation volunteer in the community. In addition, the parish supports several outreach projects directly. These include:

  • Good Wheels Program. Donated cars are sold for the cost of car repairs to low income families with no transportation.
  • Support for a "godson" in El Hogar, Honduras, a home and school for homeless boys.
  • A proportion of our yearly budget is set aside for local, national, and international efforts to further God's work.

The church and parish hall are handicapped accessible, and a sound enhancement system includes listening devices for the hearing impaired.

There is ample parking.
